Cowboy Junkies – Celebrating 40 Years and Beyond

UK Tour 2026

Cowboy Junkies have always been the quiet outliers — the band who whisper while others roar, who let space, mood and emotion do the heavy lifting. For UK country and Americana fans, their return in 2026 is a chance to reconnect with one of the most quietly influential bands of the last four decades.

Since forming in Toronto in 1985, the Timmins siblings — Margo, Michael and Peter — alongside lifelong friend Alan Anton, have built a body of work that feels both intimate and enduring. Their breakthrough moment, The Trinity Session, proved that stillness could be powerful, that a song delivered in a hush could cut deeper than any stadium‑sized chorus. It was a revelation then, and it remains the foundation of their unmistakable sound today.

When Cowboy Junkies last visited the UK, The Telegraph captured their essence perfectly: “Taking their influences from classic blues and folk but also the punk of their youth, the band roamed across a wide musical terrain, overlaying their songs with a hushed intricacy. This was beautiful…”
That blend of folk, blues, alt‑country and slow‑burn rock continues to define their live shows — atmospheric, emotionally rich, and full of the quiet intensity that has made them beloved across generations.

Their 2026 UK run arrives at a moment of reflection for the band. Alongside the tour comes Open To Beauty, a sweeping 3‑LP / 2‑CD collection gathering highlights from their 21st‑century catalogue. Spanning albums from Open and One Soul Now through to Such Ferocious Beauty, it’s a reminder of just how adventurous and consistent their later work has been. As Michael Timmins explains, “We figured this was as good a time as any to look back, reassess, and reflect on the music that we have recorded over these past two and a half decades.”

The band’s influence continues to ripple outward — most recently through the renewed attention sparked by their iconic version of Lou Reed’s “Sweet Jane,” featured in the final episode of Stranger Things. Yet despite the spotlight, Cowboy Junkies remain grounded in the same ethos that has carried them for 40 years: craft, connection, and a deep respect for the emotional weight of a song.

For UK fans who cherish storytelling, atmosphere and musicianship that rewards deep listening, this anniversary tour promises something rare — a band still doing what they were meant to do, still evolving, and still finding beauty in the quiet moments.
